The Mandalorian and Grogu movie is one of the most anticipated upcoming projects in theStar Warsfranchise, following the worldwide success ofDisneyPlus hit showThe Mandalorian. We can’t wait to see Grogu on the big screen!
Details about the plot and the full cast are still under wraps, but some early footage from the movie was revealed at D23 2024 with very exciting reactions (we tell you more about it below). With the release date confirmed, The Mandalorian and Grogu movie is finally shaping up and heading to our screens to offer a new Star Wars adventure with our favorite father/son duo.
What challenges will Mando and Grogu face in their new journey? Which characters, from Ahsoka to Bo-Katan Kryze, are set to make an appearance? How will the story connect to the wider Star Wars universe?

The Mandalorian & Grogu trailer: when will we get one?

There’s no trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu movie just yet, and, with the film not set to release for a long while, it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing one anytime soon. Instead, expect to see a full trailer for the film much closer to the time – but a teaser could potentially land at Star Wars Celebration 2025.
At D23 2024, though, some footage was screened to the lucky people in attendance. It showed Grogu as Din Djarin’s bounty hunter apprentice, with the little green guy hanging out with some Babu Friks (AKA Anzellans). It also featured the return of the Razor Crest and Zeb Orrelios, and there was a snowy planet which could well be Hoth.

So far, there are no confirmed cast members for The Mandalorian & Grogu.Sigourney Weaveris reported to be part of the line-up, though, but that’s unconfirmed for now – and it’s unclear who she’d be playing.
We can probably expect Pedro Pascal to return as Mando, but beyond that, it’s unclear just who we’ll be seeing in the movie. The likes of Katee Sackhoff asBo-Katan Kryzeand Rosario Dawson asAhsoka Tanocould make cameos, as could Amy Sedaris’s Peli Motto, and Emily Swallow’s Armorer.

Plus, though Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon was killed in the finale, there are some compelling theories that he could alsoreturn via clone-related shenanigans. It all remains to be seen for now.
Will there be a Mandalorian season 4?

At the moment, it’s unclear whether there will be aThe Mandalorian season 4or not. At first, it wasreportedly still happening in addition to the movie, butanother report soon cast doubt on that.
Per a newsletter fromThe Hollywood Reporter, before the strikes shut down Hollywood last year, season 4 was written and ready to go (asJon Favreau himself said back in February 2023). But, when Hollywood came to a standstill, Lucasfilm pivoted to a movie – leaving season 4’s future in doubt.
But, one of Din Djarin’s physical performers, Brendan Wayne, said in November 2023 that the fourth season was being “ramped up.” Whether he meant the movie or not is unclear for now.
