This year’s Black Friday gaming laptop deals may officially be over, but I’m still seeing most of my top picks available on the shelves this morning. A good supply of RTX 4050, RTX 4060, RTX 4070, and RTX 4090 machines have survived the big day itself and continue to offer their lowest prices of the year this weekend. While RTX 4080 machines haven’t been so lucky in general - with a number running out of stock yesterday - there are still some savings out there.

I’ve been tracking Black Friday gaming laptop deals for years now, and 2024 has been good to us. I’ve been seeing far more widespread discounts on more expensive RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 machines than last year, with deeper discounts on the RTX 4070 roster as well. That means this year’s sale favors the brave - even if cheaper RTX 4050 and RTX 4060 models are still looking strong.

I’ve prioritized the machines I’ve had hands-on experience with as I’ve been surfing those digital aisles this morning. Not only that, but my keen eye for value has had me price checking each of the offers featured to make sure they’re at or near their lowest prices ever. I’ve tested more than a few 4K gaming laptops in my time, but it’s only with the most recent generation of RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 mobile GPUs that they’ve felt actually playable. These are premium machines still - that UHD display requires a top of the range graphics card to keep everything running smoothly, as well as the CPU and RAM to support it. However, with DLSS 3 and other upscaling features that portable 4K display is more of a reality now than it ever has been.

In short, you’ll already know if you need to buy a 4K gaming laptop. If you’re a content creator who needs as many pixels as possible, and also wants to run a few games on the side then investing in a UHD machine could well pay off. If you just want to run your PC games from a portable machine, you’re going to have a much better time with a QHD panel.
