It was hardly the most surprising of green lights, in truth, given what went down in theseason 1 finale and post-credits scene, but it’s still exciting to know for certain that the story will continue nevertheless.
Starring Tosin Cole, Nadine Mills, Josh Tedeku, Calvin Demba, and Eric Kofi Abrefa, the sci-fi hit – which is currently rated 100% on Rotten Tomatoes – follows five strangers whose lives become interlinked when they inexplicably find themselves with superpowers. Together, the quintet must work together to fight off the mysterious hooded hunters, who keep popping up all other South London in an attempt to capture them.
Below, we pull together all we know so far about Supacell season 2, which cast members are likely to be returning, and where we think the story will go considering what’s happened already. As you might expect,major spoilers follow, so if you’ve yet to catch up on the show, and don’t want to know anything that happens, turn back now! Still here? Well then, let’s go…
Supacell season 2 release date speculation

Seeing as it’s onlyjustbeen renewed, Supacell season 2 has yet to pin down an official release date. “I’ve got stuff planned for this story. I’ve had this in my head for years, so I’m ready to go,” writer-director Rapman recently toldTudum, though, which suggests the new batch of episodes will start filming fairly sharpish.
Not that that necessarily means the next chapter will land on the streaming platform anytime soon, however. As you can imagine, Supacell requires a lot of special effects, which are notoriously time-consuming during the post-production stage, though it’s still pretty wild that there were two whole years between season 1’s seven-month shoot wrapping and its release.
It’s highly likely that Netflix will be keen for a quicker turnaround for season 2, but at this stage, all we can do is cross our fingers it arrives as soon as possible.

Supacell season 2 plot details

Supacell season 2 will undoubtedly have plenty in store for fans following season 1’scliffhanger finale, which set up a few storylines.
Firstly, now that the group have started getting used to their superpowers, it will be interesting to see what they do with them. More crucially, it looks like Michael is going to break bad, as he promises the team he’s going to get revenge on those who wronged them. With the first season centering on him trying to prevent the death of his fiancée Dionne (Adelayo Adedayo), it’s clear that her demise, which came about much sooner than he expected thanks to all his timey-wimey meddling, has had a huge impact on him.
“You can have the nicest person in the world. You push that person too far, and that person has the extraordinary power? You could create something very dangerous,” Rapman teased.
“Season 1 is my Batman Begins. It’s a prequel of what they’ll be like,” said Rapman. “Season 2 is when you really see what they become. That future you saw at the end of the pilot in London, that exact future doesn’t exist anymore. They’ve changed everything. It’s going to be interesting when we get into the writers' room.”

While nothing is set in stone, of course, it seems pretty safe to say that Tosin Cole, Nadine Mills, Josh Tedeku, Calvin Demba, and Eric Kofi Abrefa will be back as Michael, Sabrina, Tazer, Rodney, and Andre, respectively. Same goes for Sian Brooke, who portrays Victoria, and Eddie Marsan, who brings Ray to life.
Things are harder to predict when it comes to Ghetts' Krazy and Adelayo Adedayo’s Dionne, who were both fatally shot in the season 1 finale. Given the time-hopping nature of the show, there’s always a chance they could return at some point. In terms of the immediate future, though, we can’t expect either to have a huge role.
