Solo Leveling season 2 now has a confirmed release date and a brand-new trailer! That’s right, one of 2025’s first bignew animeshows previously gave us a taste of what to expect this January – and there are plenty more reasons to be excited about the upcoming series.
Solo Leveling’s hero, Sung Jin-Woo, has leveled up himself, and now, thanks to the System’s help, he has a clutch of new powers and abilities at his disposal. Whisper it, but 2025 could be the year that Solo Leveling breaks out into the anime big time. To get you ready, we’ve put together a quick guide to Solo Leveling season 2, also known as Arise from the Shadow. That includes a confirmed release date, the latest trailer, expected episode count, plus a look ahead to what else we can expect from the new season’s story and manga adaptation.

Solo Leveling season 2 release date

Solo Leveling season 2 is releasing onJanuary 4, 2025, with new episodes set to premiere weekly on Crunchyroll.
A compilation film titled ReAwakening was given a limited run in December and featured the first two episodes of the new season. That kickstarts an incredible year of anime, which includesDan Da Dan season 2,Spy x Family season 3, andMy Hero Academia season 8.

The first trailer for Solo Leveling season 2 was first unveiledalongside a renewal announcementin April.
Largely recapping Sung Jin-Woo’s journey to date in a montage, the one-time “world’s weakest hunter” leveled up thanks to the System’s help and was able to take on all-comers. It also featured a refrain that will be familiar to fans of the web comic: Arise.
The latest trailer, which you can see above, teases the next step on Sung Jin-Woo’s hunter journey and even teases the upcoming Demon Castle arc. Anadditional teaserwas also released in September for the ReAwakening film.
Solo Leveling season 2 story

If you’re new to Solo Leveling, the premise is a bizarre one. As per the official English synopsis, “Over a decade has passed since a pathway called a ‘gate’ which connects this world and another dimension suddenly appeared, and people with superhuman powers called ‘hunters’ have been awakened. Hunters use their superhuman powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates to make a living, and Sung Jin-woo, a hunter of the lowest rank, is considered the Weakest Hunter of All Mankind.”
Solo Leveling season 2 , then, is all set to pick up where the first 12 episodes left off. Namely, the “world’s weakest hunter” Sung Jin-Woo emerging from a near-death situation in the Double Dungeon with the System, a program that gives users quests and lets them level up, at his side.
While we don’t have confirmation just yet, we wouldn’t be surprised to see season 2 adapt the Return to Demon Castle Arc (chapters 76-110), but we’ll have more news about where the series ends up from January to March. It might even make it to the Jeju Island arc if it plans on setting up a third season…
Solo Leveling movie: should I skip the ReAwakening movie?

In December 2024, the ReAwakening movie was the only way to watch the first few episodes of Solo Leveling season 2 early. However, once season 2 airs, feel free to completely skip the ReAwakening movie.

Solo Leveling season 2 is expected to last for 13 episodes, which would take it through January, February, and into March at the end of the traditional anime winter 2025 season.
