It’s here, folks: theMonster Hunter Wildsrelease date is set for February 28, 2025, globally and on all platforms.
Capcomconfirmed the long-awaited date during today’sPlayStation State of Play liveshow. Series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto confirmed that pre-orders open today, with various exclusive bonuses available to fans.
Many fans expected an early 2025 release date for Monster Hunter Wildsbased on recent videos and marketing beats from Capcom, and that theory was right on the money. Looking at the calendar, February 28 puts it just after Monster Hunter World’s January 26 launch back in 2018.
While Tsujimoto himself didn’t have a huge amount more to reveal beyond the Monster Hunter Wilds release date, the new trailer had plenty to show off. There are at least three new monsters hiding within that footage, including a pretty ornery-looking fire cockatrice. That’s mon’s angry nature is probably to be expected, however, as the trailer also revealed that the game’s Palicoes are being pretty-light-fingered.
There was also the best glimpse yet at the game’s narrative, and the mysterious young boy it seems to center on. As well as a semi-mythical creature that only that kid seems to truly believe in, there’s a sense that there’s a power that he’s sitting on - one I imagine will rear its head plenty of times throughout the game, especially as you come face to face with increasingly towering monsters.
Monster Hunter Wilds dev says the series' true turning point wasn’t Monster Hunter World, but a PSP game that came out 10 years earlier.
